What is Kybella?
Kybella® is an injectable treatment that can be used to eliminate submental fullness, a condition often referred to as a double chin. Kybella® is composed of deoxycholic acid, which is a compound that is naturally found in the body and aids in breaking down and absorbing fat. When injected into the fat under the chin, Kybella® breaks down the fat cells to produce a more sculpted profile. Many patients achieve a more defined chin and jawline thanks to these injections.
Is There Downtime After Kybella®?
Although patients may experience minor bruising, redness or sensitivity in the injection site, there is no downtime required after a Kybella® treatment. These effects typically fade within a few days, and do not prevent patients from resuming work and other activities immediately after their appointment.
How Long Does it Work?
After receiving Kybella® injections, it can take a few weeks for the results to become visible. Most patients begin to notice significant results about one month after treatment, but most patients will need multiple Kybella® treatments to achieve their desired results. The Kybella® treatment permanently destroys fat cells under the chin, so they will no longer be able to accumulate fat. However, future weight gain can affect the results from your Kybella® treatment. We encourage patients to maintain healthy diet and exercise habits to make their results last as long as possible.
